DigiFlash provides complete blog functionality through WordPress’s native post system and Full Site Editing. You can create a dedicated blog page, publish posts, and customize blog layouts through the Site Editor.
Setting Up a Blog Page
Navigate to Settings → Reading in your WordPress dashboard. Under Your homepage displays, select A static page. Choose your homepage from the Homepage dropdown, then select or create a page for Posts page.
If you don’t have a blog page yet, go to Pages → Add New, create a page titled “Blog” or “News”, and publish it without adding any content. Return to Settings → Reading and select this page as your Posts page.
Your blog posts now display automatically on this page using the blog template.
Creating Blog Posts
Navigate to Posts → Add New to create a new blog post. Enter your post title in the title field and add content using blocks. Insert text, images, headings, lists, and any other blocks to build your post content.
Assign categories and tags in the right sidebar under Post settings. Set a featured image by clicking Set featured image in the post settings panel.
Click Publish to make your post live. The post appears on your blog page and in your site’s RSS feed.
Customizing Post Template
Go to Appearance → Editor → Templates → Single Post to edit the individual blog post layout. The template controls how each blog post displays on your site.
DigiFlash’s default post template includes the post title, featured image, content, author info, and post meta. Click on any element to modify it or add new blocks for additional features like related posts or social sharing.
Editing Blog Archive Template
Navigate to Appearance → Editor → Templates → Archive to customize your blog page layout. This template controls how posts display on your blog listing page.
The archive template typically shows post excerpts, featured images, titles, and meta information. Adjust the Query Loop block to change how many posts display per page, the layout grid, and post content shown.
Configuring Categories and Tags
Go to Posts → Categories to create blog categories. Click Add New Category, enter a name and slug, then click Add New Category. Assign categories to posts when creating or editing them.
Navigate to Posts → Tags to add tags using the same process. Tags and categories help organize posts and create filtered archive pages.
Category and Tag Archives
DigiFlash automatically creates archive pages for each category and tag. Access these by clicking category or tag links on blog posts. Customize the appearance through Appearance → Editor → Templates → All Archives.
Blog Sidebar
Add a sidebar to your blog by editing the Single Post or Archive template. Insert a Columns block, set it to two columns, place your post content in one column, and add sidebar widgets like recent posts, categories, or search in the other column.
Post Excerpts
Control post excerpts in Settings → Reading → Excerpt Length. Alternatively, write custom excerpts when editing posts by expanding the Excerpt panel in the post settings sidebar.
Comments
Enable or disable comments globally in Settings → Discussion. Toggle comments for individual posts using the Discussion panel in the post editor sidebar.
Saving Blog Changes
Click Save in the Site Editor to publish template changes. All blog posts automatically use the updated templates.
