Browser Compatibility Issues

DigiFlash displays incorrectly or loses functionality in certain browsers due to outdated browser versions, browser-specific CSS rendering differences, or JavaScript compatibility issues. Modern block themes require current browser versions to function properly.

Update Your Browser

Outdated browsers lack support for modern CSS and JavaScript features used in DigiFlash. Update your browser to the latest version:

Chrome: Click the three dots menu > Help > About Google Chrome. Chrome updates automatically.

Firefox: Click the menu button > Help > About Firefox. Firefox checks for updates automatically.

Safari: Update through System Preferences > Software Update on macOS. Safari updates with operating system updates.

Edge: Click the three dots menu > Help and feedback > About Microsoft Edge. Edge updates automatically.

After updating, clear your browser cache by pressing Ctrl+Shift+Delete (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+Delete (Mac), select all time ranges, and clear cached images and files.

Test in Multiple Browsers

DigiFlash works in all modern browsers, but testing ensures consistent appearance. Download and test your site in:

  • Google Chrome (latest version)
  • Mozilla Firefox (latest version)
  • Safari (latest version)
  • Microsoft Edge (latest version)

If issues appear in only one browser, the problem is browser-specific rather than a DigiFlash issue.

Clear Browser Cache

Cached files cause outdated rendering. Press Ctrl+Shift+R (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+R (Mac) to perform a hard refresh that bypasses cache.

For persistent issues, manually clear cache: press Ctrl+Shift+Delete (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+Delete (Mac), select “All time,” check “Cached images and files,” and click “Clear data.”

Disable Browser Extensions

Browser extensions interfere with site rendering and functionality. Test your site in incognito/private mode, which disables most extensions by default.

Open incognito mode:

  • Chrome: Ctrl+Shift+N (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+N (Mac)
  • Firefox: Ctrl+Shift+P (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+P (Mac)
  • Edge: Ctrl+Shift+N (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+N (Mac)

If your site displays correctly in incognito mode, a browser extension causes the issue. Disable extensions one by one to identify the problematic one.

Check Browser Console for Errors

JavaScript errors prevent functionality from working. Open browser developer tools by pressing F12 or right-clicking and selecting “Inspect.” Click the Console tab and look for red error messages.

Common JavaScript errors include:

  • Missing script files (404 errors)
  • Syntax errors in custom code
  • Conflicts between scripts
  • Blocked scripts due to security settings

Note any error messages and search for solutions or contact support with the specific error details.

Internet Explorer is Not Supported

Internet Explorer 11 and earlier versions don’t support modern CSS Grid, Flexbox properties, and JavaScript features required by DigiFlash. DigiFlash is a modern block theme that only supports current browsers.

If visitors use Internet Explorer, instruct them to switch to Microsoft Edge, Chrome, or Firefox. Microsoft officially ended Internet Explorer support in June 2022.

Report Browser-Specific Bugs

If you discover a genuine browser compatibility bug in DigiFlash that occurs in current browser versions, document:

  • Specific browser name and version number
  • Operating system
  • Steps to reproduce the issue
  • Screenshots comparing correct vs incorrect rendering
  • Browser console errors

Contact DigiFlash support with this information so they can address browser-specific compatibility issues in future updates.
